2001 Blazer 4.3 into a 1996 s-10 problem

I got an engine for my 96 s10 from a 2001 blazer. I installed the engine and noticed some differences. The knock sensor is different. The 96 uses a one wire connector and the 01 uses a two wire connector. The mounting location is in the same spot on the block, but the mounting holes are different sizes. How do I make this work?

The intakes seem to be a little different as well. The 96 has two sensors on the front of the intake, and the 01 doesn't have anything. I'm not sure what these sensors do, but I think they have something to do with emmisions. Can I get away with leaving those front sensors off?

Using the 96 wiring harness and computer because I don't have the 01 stuff.

Thanks

Re: 2001 Blazer 4.3 into a 1996 s-10 problem

air intake temperature, tps, IAC are a few of the sensors near the front, the air temp is usually in the hose before the intake inlet.

check with autozone or somewhere for a wiring diagram on the knock sensor, there may be a way to make it compatible to the older harness, or make the harness compatible to it.

not sure how this is going to work out with the computer and this new engine, this is why i would only do these sort of swaps on good 'ol carbed/no computer trucks!

Good luck though

(just thought about that being a bit newer than mine so it may be wrong, but those are generally what you will find there)
