98 Taurus trany problem
I have a 98 Taurus and today I had to move it. I backed it up and moved into the yard. I put it into park, turned off switch, then lifted foot off brake and car started rolling. I quickly put the brake on then emergency brake. The shifter will move but it does not engage. It also will not start. Tried moving the shifter in different positions still won't start. Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: 98 Taurus trany problem
if shift lever does not "rachet" and moves smoothly,,,,ball n socket connector for linkage on top of trans is disconnected

Re: 98 Taurus trany problem
Exactly what happened. I placed it back in and it works. One thing looks like on the end there is a groove for some type of snap ring. Anyone clear this up for me. Thanks
