Re: ZX3 AC Evaporator installation help

Nick this is not a job you want to DIY. It is 8 hours of labor for a certified mechanic. Even experienced mechanics cringe at having to replace an evapoprator. The refrigerant should be evacuated and it would be dangerous to open the system while it was pressurized.

Most vehicles recquire complete removal of the dashboard to enable you to remove the entire HVAC box. Once the box is removed you can disassemble it and replace the evaporator.

Anytime an A/C system has been oopen to the atmosphere the accumulator/receiver-dryer must be replaced. Also, steps must be taken to put the right amount of refrigerant oil back into the system. Bite the bullet and have it done by an experienced shop.

Re: ZX3 AC Evaporator installation help

Thank You, this isn't the first evaporator I've done, nor the first dash removal. Yes every one is a pain, this one will be much less of a pain then others I have done. I was just hoping I would come across someone who has done this model before and knew if there were any gottcha's I should be aware of , or short cuts that really work. Nearly very time I have my cars worked on by someone else it ends up with me doing it over the right way, that includes Dealers. I know some people I would trust to work on my cars but not many. I just have found that it's cheaper and quicker to just do it myself. I still can use all the help I can get.
Thank you for the advise, it's good advise. I just thank God that He gave me the ability to figure out how to fix anything I need to. Although sometimes I wonder if it is a blessing or a curse.
Nick
