Main bearing jounal question, 1.0l
Am I missing something here? Main bearing journal specs? In the book it says stamped on bearing cap. #2 and 3 are different sizes.
Are the main bearings themselves the same size? . Here is what it says. Main bearing journal dia. No 1-1.7710-1.7712 No2-1.7712-1.7714 No3-1.7714-1.7716 No4-1.7710-1.7712 Now I have one more question. On 2 of the main caps there is an extra bolt bout 10mm. What is the purpose of that? Reason for asking is that one of my caps had the extra little bolt in it and the other did not, but the hole is there. Do I need to put one there? It wasn't in the oil pan so I don't know. Thanks |

Re: Main bearing jounal question, 1.0l
All of the bearings are the same size. When you purchase the bearings, there's no difference between them in the packaging. Just be sure to line up the oil holes =)
It's been a long time since I've rebuilt one of these little beasts, but if memory serves correct, one of the main caps is tapped to receive a 10mm hex head bolt for one of the mounting locations of the oil pick up, while the other mounting location is fastened to the oil pump itself. -Matt

Thanks Caprice, had alittle brain slippage there with the oil sump.
Those numbers on the bearings had me confused. Anyone recommend Parts Dinosaur?? Rebuild coming up for the metro engine. |
