There can be issues with the AWD. Noise is the most common complaint. There are two operating scenarios with AWD: Runs great and no problems OR Lots of expensive problems.
Rear end fluid is expensive (~$25/pint and dealer only) and fluid changeout if problems occur can cost $200+.
I have an '02 Silhouette that has been relatively trouble free. I had to change the fluid once due to noise in the rear differential. The other problems I have had are erlated to the rear suspension on AWD models. Wheel bearings and spindle bushings were expensive to replace.
