2001 gas guage doesn't work

I have a 2001 grand am.the gas gauge went to empty and stayed there. anyone experienced this if so I would appreciate any help.

on your fuel pump there is so called "sending unit" it can be replaced but you have to drop the tank and take out fuel pump. The part is about 82$ in dealerships, but I am sure you can get it for less in AZ.

The level float is a problem with the 98,99-02 03 models.

I think the part at Autobone was $13 ?
The entire fuel module(pump/screen and new level indicator) is around $300+ everywhere.

its dropping the tank that's no fun.
