trans issue at wot
hey guys i have a 98 gtp with the 3800sc it has 107k its been modified a decent amount over stock running more boost a cam headers and a very small stall converter. i recently just put a new trans in from a 98 regal gs wit supposedly 60k , i checked the vin codes and they were a perfect match rite gears and such. it worked great for a few days but now if u pin it off the line or 10mph from 1st 2 second gear it hits rev box before it shifts, it doesnt seem to slip cuz it pulls hard! just shifts way to high! and it doesnt do it at all at half to 3/4 throttle wrks perfect, i also have a shift kit in it if that makes a difference and my line pressure is higher from zzps pcm please help if anybody no's i really dont want to pull my trans again.

Re: trans issue at wot
Do you have any kind of tuner? Is the PCM stock shift points modified?

Re: trans issue at wot
What is the current WOT shift point? Or what are your RPMs reading when the issue occurs?
Typically Stage 1 v1.0 PCMs whether ZZP, DHP or Intense are set for around 6000 rpm and obviously programmed for higher line pressure. Any lower and you will be reverting back to the stock settings. The shift kit should have nothing to do with your issue. All it does is firm up shifts (shift timing) and nothing to do with the shift points.

Re: trans issue at wot
I would swap the speed sensor from the old trans to the new one Just to make sure it ins't causing an issue.
Then maybe get it scanned with a trans scanner and let us know if it comes back with any codes.

Re: trans issue at wot
![]() 6600 rpms? That is insane. What brand cam do you have, rocker ratio, and spring rates? When you replace transaxles or do major transaxle work you need to get the PCM reset and the adaptive shift data (TAPS) cleared out and relearned. A GM Tech II scan tool is required or maybe a trans shop has a scanner/scan tool capable of doing that.

Re: trans issue at wot
I dont know. Did you make sure the PRNDL switch was adjusted when you put the new trans in? Just curious.
