'00 T&C front end grinding/rubbing/clunking noise
Wanted to get some opinions before I start replacing everything on the front of this van.
My 2000 Town and Country started making a noise the other day coming from the front end. The noise is on the drivers side. Its a grinding, clunking, rubbing kind of noise. The noise goes away at higher speeds when I'm acelerating or breaking. When I'm coasting and not hitting the brakes, the noise comes back. It also makes the same noise while at slower speeds ( 20 mph or lower) even when I'm breaking, but goes away when I accelerate. The noise persists no matter which direction I turn the wheel or weither I'm going in a straight line. The tranny is shifting very smoothly with no hesitation at all. I'm thinking it could be the wheel bearing but have also read on these forums that a CV joint could make similar noises. Any ideas? Just wanted to get some others input as to what it could be before I start spending more money than is needed. Last edited by JA no Y; 08-26-2009 at 12:35 PM. |
