2003 Civic start problem

Yesterday morning my 2003 civic did not start right away. The dashboard flashed and there were clicking noises. After the 3rd key turn it started.

I took it to the dealer, and they checked the battery, starter, and alternator voltages and said the charging system was fine. They said maybe I left something on over night.

I made sure that nothing in the cabin was on, and this morning I again had crank the car twice to get it to start.

I don't get a battery light while driving either.

I am going to do a multimeter test today to see if there is any parasitic draw from somewhere.

So my question: What could be the problem is there is no short anywhere?

I am thinking alternator diode.

Thanks

I would say look at your battery(should not start after several attempts though),ground wire, neutral safety switch, ignition switch,(if no clicking noises), could also be a starter

check the battery and see where the fluid is. If it's low add water to it, take the battery out of the car and let it charge over nite, then take off the starter and test that to see how the starter runs. If it runs like a new starter its your battery, if not its your starter.

Re: 2003 Civic start problem

Put A NEW BATTERY IN IT it's time! before you damage the alternator! Take that battery in and have it bench tested at Advanced auto parts Or Sams club if it's good or bad get a good sams club energizer battery there great.

Re: 2003 Civic start problem

I put one of those in my 91 handa civic and it never started so good just wipped that motor over I think sams checks batteries too! With a Honda or any modern computer controled car you really should replace that battery every four or five years.
