1999 Jimmy Transfer case swap??

So the transfer case on my 99 Jimmy tries to shift into 4 low (sounds like it goes into 4 low) but when you go to give it gas the transfer case acts like it is in neutral.. I have tried swapping out the transfer case control motor with no joy. I scored a another NP8 t-case at the yard after someone pulled the motor and transmission. I have yanked the drive shafts, transmission crossmember, all of the wiring, and the bolts holding the transfer case to the transmission. Now when I go to pull the transfer case I cant get the rear tail housing to clear the WELDED IN torsion bar mount. I cant even get the input on the transfer case to clear the output shaft on the transmission.. How in the hell do you get these transfer cases out of the trucks with out pulling the transmission/engine?
