98 2-door tahoe wont start

I was driving my tahoe and it just died on the road. Now it wont start. When I go to start it, it turns over and almost starts, then it stops and tries to start again, but it doesnt sound right the 2nd time. It kinda sounds like it isnt sure if it wants to start or not. Thats the best I can describe it. I might have to put a youtube video up for this one.

Check fuel pressure and the spec is 60-66 psi if you want to know the fuel pressure specs.

Thanks, fuel pressure is fine. Fuel pump is fine. Could the timing be off?

Timing is not adjustable with the vortec 350s,done with a scan tool.Check the distribitor cap, known for eating them up and avoid an aftermarket cap which are junk,do not last even the cheap ones.

I haven't check for spark yet. Do I just take one of the plug wires off and try to start it?

I just checked for spark, and nothing. How can I check the ignition coil/module and distributor cap?

Re: 98 2-door tahoe wont start

Unbolt the distribitor cap using a T20 torx bit also removing the plugwires carefully from it.Make sure you do not tip the cap over losing the screws which can be hard to find.

Re: 98 2-door tahoe wont start

It ended up being the distributor cap and or rotor/button. You really do have to watch those little screws.
Thanks for all the help.
