What size Hub Nut? 1998 Venture

Changing my front wheel assemblys on my 1998 Venture. ABS don't work but the real issue is the bearings are bad (sounds like an airplane).

What is the size socket to use on the hub nut? I need to order one.

Going with the Timken brand hub assembly - found them online for $110 - anybody find them cheaper? Autozone want's $150 and they don't do the lifetime warrenty anymore so going to buy online.

Well I went out and checked the 2 sockets that I have bought for that purpose and one is a 36mm and I know that fits a Subaru Loyale. The other one is a 34mm socket, however mine is a '99 Venture. May want to get a few more replies before you order it.

$110 don't sound too bad. I think the last one that I bought from NAPA was $140. They sell an aftermarket for less than $100 I believe. Too bad they didn't design them to be able to remove the bearing without destroying the sensor. If your ABS light is on, you can check the resistance with an ohmeter and determine which one(s) are bad. At least it worked for me anyway. I found the reading on a good one to be around 1100 to 1200 ohms. Might save having the ABS codes pulled.???

for my 1998 it is 34MM - Amazon sells one - $12. Got the rest of the stuff from a place online called thepartsbin.com (google for coupons to save 10% off the order)

Did all the work this past weekend, ended up having to put in a new lower control arm (had bad bushings and ball joint). Actualy the entire job was not too difficult. The new hub assemblys fixed my ABS issue and 'airplane noise'.

Also did a brake job while in there but now have a sticky brake issue on one side, but pretty sure that's related to sticky glide pins. Yes I have the high-temp lube on the pins, but they were looking old as well as the general calipair hardware needs cleaned up.

Aside from some simple brake work (if needed ) - I think I'm good for a while now. We tow this van 4 wheels on the ground behind our RV (it has a transmission lube pump) so it gets a lot of miles that don't show up on the odometer. Has to be reliable as if there is a failure of somthign - I might not notice it until something really drastic happens (like a wheel seizes and falls off)
