Anodized Purple

Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone knows the best way to replicate purple anodize. I know how to replicate blue and red, but I havent seen purple. If I were to mix transparent red and blue together would that work? If anyone has an good ideas I would be most appreciative.

That will do it. I often mix I would definitely airbrush it on, and spray all parts that will be that color at one time- it will be virtually impossible to match the color again later. But it should look great. What are you 'anodizing'?

Mixing Tamiya's clear red and blue did not work it gets brownish. What did work was starting with a silver base I then airbrushed a light coat of clear red(not to many coats) then go over that with a coat or two of clear blue. It looked far better than just mixing the two then spraying.

would regular purple drawing ink work (through an airbrush that is)?
may need to clear it afterwards though because drawing ink would likely crack and flake after a while.

House of Color has a candy purple. Black Gold sells it online in 1 oz jars. I've used it and a thinned coat would provide the exact color you need, but it is lacquer.

You might mix it with Future to prevent the flaking.

What I've done in the past, is mix (sorry guys I'm a cheap skate) Testors Boyd's high gloss clear with various opaque colors to create candy top coats. Just find some Testor's enamel Plum Crazy and add as many drops of it to the jar of clear as it takes to get your desired opacity. Now the more opaque you make it the fewer coats it will take to coat your part.

This really works! oh and it works well for spray on window tint too.
