disaster in paradise

i have a huge problem. i was cruisinon the highway today and when i passed someone all was well. however, upon competion of the passing i let off the throttle and instead of hearing BOV i heard this weird snapping sound like a hose blowing off. i pulled over and popped the hood to check all my hoses ( i was thinking i must not have bolted something down tight enough when i did the BOV install ) but everything looked normal. i continued to drive and didnt notice anything strange. then. . . on my way home after work i started noticing some major issues that only occure under 'boost' conditions. i say 'boost' cuz it wont actually boost. it'll hit around 1 psi then start jerking. it will go no higher. i can rev all the way to redline as long as there's a vaccuum, but if i hit it hard, it freaks out. instead of spool i'm hearing this weird wooshing sound and it absolutely WILL NOT go over like 2 psi. and it runs terrible under any boost. am i experience compressor surge as a possible result of a faulty, newly-installed BOV? either way, i'm currently rolling a vr4 that cant boost. this must be how a castrated man feels. . .

Re: disaster in paradise

Sounds like an IC pipe popped off. Your absolutely sure they are all on there all the way?

Re: disaster in paradise

the clamp for the y-pipe probably snapped, and you're now losing air out the y-pipe. Check all of your clamps and check the IC piping. something popped off.

Re: disaster in paradise

Yeah you are definately leaking a lot of air somewhere in your IC piping. If I have my guess I would go with what girly-VR4 just said as Y pipes are notortious for that and the fact that you just had all that IC piping pulled apart and probably didn't tighten one down tight enough.

Also, what did you plug the hole in your Y-pipe with when you put on the BOV? Did you check that hole after this happend?

Re: disaster in paradise

i didnt plug anythng man, its recirc.

anyways it turn out i'm half retarded . the pipe going from the y-pipe to the passenger side intercooler was loose. it wasnt all the way off, i guess it was just loose enough to leak. so i have secured it and all is well. i was all freaked out about nothing.
