4x4 not engaging
I just swapped my tranny with a used (not rebuilt) one. I swapped the transfer case too, 'cause it was already attatched and less work. My old one worked great. Well now the tranny works good but the 4x4 doesn't engage. It sounds like the transfer case is making noise (like it's engaging)but not. And the lights on the dash are confusing. The only light action I'm getting is 4-Lo. But again, No 4x4. I will do more poking around, I'll listen to the case some more and check to see if the driveshaft is locked. I just want to see if this transfer case is ok or if I should swap my original back

Is noise from transfer case? Is transfer case locking the front drive shaft in good?

Re: 4x4 not engaging
Sorry. My S10 is a '94. The tranny is a 4L60e. Yes the noise is coming from the transfer case. The front driveshaft is in good. The lights on the 4x4 button just don't ad up. Before I did this swap they worked just fine. Now, like I said, I only get the 4Lo light and noise from the case, but no 4Lo. 4Hi doesn't make noise or light up. Why does the 4Hi light not work. I'm going to go check out exactly what kind of scenario I'm getting and I'll post back later. Thanks for looking.

Re: 4x4 not engaging
Ok, here is exactly what my 4x4 is doing. When I hit the 4x4 button while in park, nothing happens. In fact the only time something does happen is while i'm in Neutral. When the 4x4 button is clicked up for 4hi the transfer case makes noise as if it is engaging. The lights on the 4x4 button both blink twice then stay on. If I push the button up again, the case makes a very small noise as if it has informed to do something but does nothing and the lights on the button blink then stay on. The noise is not like the first time. If I push the button agian, I get the same response. If I push for a, now the 4th time, The lights blink and turn off. Then back through the same process if done again. Same goes for 4Lo. I can hear it engage but the Blazer doesn't have 4x4.

Was replacemen the same no transfer case as old one? ID tag is on back of it. If 233 you can ground piun 13 on diagnostic connector and get codes from shift button lights. Post back any codes. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=572914
