Slowing down the P71

I have a '96 P71 that our son is driving. Does anyone know a way to "govern" the vehicle so it doesn't accelerate so fast? Or go so fast? I'm thinking of some sort of an RPM limiter. Any ideas? Thanks!

Re: Slowing down the P71

As far as I know, it is possible via the PCM. I have a custom tuner (SCT X3) and in addition to the customized tune I have for my car on the tuner, I can change a few options before uploading to the PCM, including idle and drive RPM limiters, speed limiter, shift points, etc. It is an expensive piece of equipment though. There may be other laptop programs that can update the PCM. I am not too familiar with them, however.
