Check Engine Code 51
Ok 0n my 1994 Geo Metro 993cc (everyone calls it a 1.0L)
![]() I got a Code 51 check engine light I've gotten lazy in my old age LOL so I took it to a mechanic. Result: clogged EGR solenoid, clogged EGR transducer Charge: $618!!!!!!!!! What a fricking rip-off. No wonder I hardly ever go to the mechanic.

Re: Check Engine Code 51
Wait! It gets better. I asked them to go ahead and have it smogged for me too. The smog fees are set so it was $68 including the cert. The total they charged: $802!!!!!
Can you say raped???

Wait until the light comes back on because he did not clean the EGR port through the head

Re: Check Engine Code 51
You paid more than what a replacement Metro would cost! And, unfortunately for you, your "mechanic" has applied a band-aid to a machete wound. Like johnny said, without cleaning the egr port in the head, the problem is a come back.
