2002 escape high idle Code P1506

Hello Group,

I am trying to solve a high idle issue with my 2002 Escape 3.0. The ECM had code P1506. I replaced the IAC valve and cleared the code from the ECM. I have driven the car in the past two days and the idle does still seem to be high for my taste. It stays around 1100 with the car in drive and in park or neutral it will idle at about 1500. Is there anything that I need to do besides just replacing the IAC?

Abe

Re: 2002 escape high idle Code P1506

It's more than likely that the computer is idling the engine so high. One or more of the sensors could be at fault. Other than spark and fuel the computer runs everything else. The code is the IAC Duty Cycle lower than expected. Clean the wire connecter to the IAC with some alcohol. Other than this there is little you can do.

The ECU + PCU don't like unmetered air, see

Suspect a bad seal, rubber, or plastic.
