Air conditioning issue

My 1989 Caprice 9C1 has recently developed an A.C. problem that I can't understand. It will work perfectly for a certain length of time and then cut off totally. No fan or anything. I never know when or if this will happen. The system was totally overhauled two years ago and still blows ice cold, so this is very surprising. Thanks for the help.

I found a bad wire connection,,oem crimp corroded lower steering column area,,,orange wire..had some tape around it ,,,
