Exclamation 2003 Silverado Strange noise

I have a 2003 Silverado that makes a strange clunking noise when I let off the brakes after coming to a stop. It is not a every time occurrence, I just checked the rear Disc brakes and found nothing out of the ordinary. I am wondering if it could be U joints going bad. no noise is made when shifting from park to drive or reverse so I am at a loss.

Re: 2003 Silverado Strange noise

calipers are sticking....therefore when you release the brake they are popping. That happened to my dads truck. We replaced them and the noise went away.

what is the vehicle's setup 4X4?

I had this problem twice,,it was corrected by the dealer the first time at 30,ooomi....replacement of the transfercase fluid with tracII....

this stopped the clunk sound when the vehivle was cold when starting from a stop....with a person operating the vehicle I could see the drive shaft sticking at the exit of the transfercase when the vehicle was starting to move and the clunk was heard..

another way to test/see if this is it is to spray some lube on this area around the seal/shaft...if the noise goes away then you know thats it for sure...

since this occured I replace the transfercase fluid around 30,ooomi and the 4X4 has been working perfectly..
