got a wierd problem with ambient temp

car runs like crap when hot out, it acts like either too much gas or not enough. i can back off the throttle when it happens and power comes back. when cool out or at night it seems to run fine or very minimal problem. i thought about TPS or the air temp sensor on the intake tube, but never seen one of those air sensors go bad. all though i cleaned it with MAF cleaner when i was cleaning the MAF. did i screw it up maybe??thanks joe
