American Muscle

so i interviewed 4 3rd gens today for a position in my driveway,

the first: an 86 IROC w/t-tops. bitchin right? wrong. they guy/ad didnt tell me but it had a LOT of dents/scratches, etc. and when he told me to "make an offer" he shot me down twice. didnt even drive it.

the second: an 88 RS with a v6. it felt like it had 80 hp. ewww.

the third: 90 z28 convertible. during the testdrive it backfires twice and the guy is like, "oh it does that all the time, dont worry about it". no thank you

the champion: 82 z28 with some mods to include a dana 44 rear axle, 3.92 posi and 4 barrel edelbrock. alot of the stock stuff had been replaced with new parts. so before i even drive it, i'm lovin it. the body is really straight and CLEAN. it could use some touch-up paint in a few spots, but there are no dents, or rust to speak of. and then the test drive. it has a 4 speed stick which was kinda weird for a second but whatever. so im cruising around 45 in 3rd and just for the lulz i downshift and floor it. so it smokes the tires from a 45mph roll. . . . i think i'm in love. i've never had a RWD car before but that shit is fun. so anyway the guy was kinda annoyed that i did that until i was like "why do you care? im buying". so i bought it. i'll post pictures tomorrow after i get done orgasming. BLING BLING

Re: American Muscle

Just be careful when buying 3rd gens as the majority have been beat to all hell. On top of that, you have to grow a mullet and enlist yourself as a known criminal upon owning a 3rd gen F-body.

ROFL. i dont think the navy would like either of those things. but the engine was in suprisingly good shape. has like 110,XXX miles but its really clean. the guy was showing me pictures of when he had the motor opened up and cleaned. it looks like new. seriously man. i cant stop smiling about it

Awesome! I can't wait to see some pictures of that beast! I'm so glad you didn't even consider the other three. The v6 from 88 was probably the 2.8. Tiny and sucky... They actually made a 4 banger model in the 80's too. I think it did only have 70hp or something like that. I couldn't imagine anything much worse/slower than the v6's from that gen.
