instrument cluster swap
hey guys i a insterment cluster swap today on my xj, i had the idiot lights and giant fuel guage the new cluster came from a 88 with the 4.0, i know i need to replace the sending units for the oil and water but my tach isint working right its like reading half or something eny ideas?

On the tach, if your # of cylinders is different than the vehicle you got the cluster from, then your tach can be wrong. I'm not sure if there's a setting on it that can be adjusted or not.

yeah mines the 2.5 but i read that on 89 and later models that theres a adjustment screw on the back of the tach that sets it for 4, 6 or 8 cly models so im gonna try that today, ill try to take some pics if it works out.

Let us know...yours is firing 1.5x the 6 cylinder's rate, according to the tach.
