Dead Metro -- Need help troubleshooting

Hello all,

I was driving to work the other day, going up a hill and right as I crested the hill my little black bomber Metro died on me. The car just stopped running, although all of the accessories (stereo, lights, etc all stayed on).

I had it towed to my work (which was thankfully fairly close and a place that I can work on the car) and took a look at it.

I had plenty of oil, did a compression check and everything is okay there.

I checked to see if I was getting spark from the coil, and there was none. Thinking it might be a quick fix, I replaced the coil -- but still no spark. I checked the fuses that I could see in the engine compartment, and in the fuse block underneath the dash and couldn't find any that had blown.

It seems definitely like some sort of electrical/ignition problem, but I'm not sure where to look next. I didn't notice any kind of ozone smoky smell that might indicate a melted wire, but haven't looked very closely at the wiring harness--I'm hoping that somebody might have experienced some kind of a similar problem and could maybe point me in the right direction.

Help!

Sorry about missing those details: The car is a 95 LSI with a 1.0 3 cylinder. I haven't yet checked to see if the distributor is turning, but I should still be able to see a spark if I ground the coil wire to the body shouldn't I?

If he has compression, then the distributor is probably turning. I would be highly suspicious of the cam position sensor inside the distributor. Check resistance at the 2-pin white connector leading to the dist while cranking and look for ohm variance. Maybe someone has specs?

You'll need wiring diagrams to check for continuity between the cam sensor and the PCM and between the PCM and the coil.

Is your injector firing?
