Need New Tires for my '95 MR2 Turbo

For the first time, I am purchasing new tires for my car as I still have stock A022's and they are long in the tooth. However, they had great durability and rode really well. I only have 25k original miles on the car and only drive when it's nice out and don't race the car, but I do drive it hard. I am the original owner. Can't believe it's 14 yrs now since I bought it- luv the car!
Since the car is completely stock, I was wondering if the Yokohama S.drive would be good tires for it. I figured the car had hama's on the car when I bought it, so why not stay with it. I looked at the Michelin Pilot PE2 for better performance than the S.drives and Goodyear Eagle GT for more durability, and Tire Rack even rated the Eagle GT higher in performance than the Yokohama S.drive.
Would the S.drive match/balance well with my car and stock rims? Is is too much tire for my stock suspension? Since I drive it rarely and only during dry conditions, I figured they are a bit less expensive than the Pilots and hopefully the awesome ride, originally, won't change too much with advanced tire as the Yokohama S.drive's

I just responded to your other thread. Wow. A 95 Turbo? Original owner? Keep that baby is good shape Very nice MR2 indeed!!!

Anyways, I've heard great things about the Yokohama S.Drives. I don't think it's too much tire for the 93-95 suspension. I'm looking into getting a set of them for my 2 cars (though the suspension is not stock on either).

Remember, the car was a sports car from the get go. Tire technology may have changed, but the fact it's a turbo'd sports car hasn't. The S.Drives are supposed to be great tires. I've found complaints on most of the tires I've looking into on various things. Some things mattered to me, some didn't. I didn't find hardly any complaints on the S.Drive reviews I've read though. Nothing but good things.

They'll cost you less than the Pilots too. Also, you should be able to fit 205 on the front fine, since you asked in the other thread. 205's in the front and 225's in the rear will mount and balance fine on the stock 95 wheels.

Take care of that car

Re: Need New Tires for my '95 MR2 Turbo

Thanks Man.

It's such a great car. I can't put into words and I have not been on any blogs since I bought the car, but the car has been so strong, there was never any need to. Now parts are getting scarce and I'm forced to come out of hiding, if you will, and need advice on where to go to get things for this car. The car will NEVER be driven in the winter, the car is undercoated, just in case as there is a lot of humidity in Michigan, and I might put a K&N Filter, a chip and I think that's it. I may buy some chrome cam covers or something.

Next batch of tires for this car, I will go with the 205's in the front and hope they won't rub in tight turning circles. Due to my uncertainty, and I wish I would have heard from you sooner, there was one last pair of tires out there, the BF Goodrich G-Force, having the 195/15's. I bought them, much better than my stock tires, but I believe I could have gotten better grade tires. Only the best for my baby, even if that means giving up a girlfriend or two in the process, they are replaceable, my '95 White/Tan MR2 Turbo is not!!!!

Great car, and I am doing my best to keep it stock, as I am afraid of changing what's already great, in my book. However, it sucks when you are getting smoked by SUV's, not to mention, the Neon's and WRX STi's. Maybe, if I make enough money, I will have to get another car to beat these things and have my MR2 turn out to be another "Model T". Man, I remember they're weren't too many cars, in my class, that I couldn't beat. I smoked my brother's Eclipse Turbo incessantly! Miss those days! Miss all the hot chicks I drove in that car too, and they were hot! Gettin older, and the hot chicks are getting fewer and fewer. I hate aging- highly overrated!
