Stratus turn signal problem

I have a 1999 Dodge Stratus with turn signal problems. First the flasher seemed to be jamming, the lights would flash but then would jam intermittently – lights would burn but not flash. I checked the fuse and it was fine, so I bought a new relay.

When I plugged the new relay in and tested, the turn signals worked, but then I tested the hazard lights and the lights died instantly, not even the turn signals worked. The relay smelled like it had popped. The fuse was still fine.

I figured that the whole switch might have a short, so I bought a replacement switch (includes the control stalks for turn signals, the hazard switch, lights, windscreen wipers etc), and a new relay. I fitted everything and I still got no turn signals or hazards. I checked at least one of the bulbs and it appeared to be fine.

An ideas where the problem might be?
