'95 Ranger starting problems...

Hi everyone. I am new to this forum but look forward to learning a lot about my trucks.
I have a '95 Ford Ranger manual, 5-speed, 6.0 L, 4X4 pickup. Last weekend, it suddenly didn't want to run. No "check engine" light was illuminated. I turned the key over (the engine cranked) and pressed on the gas pedal however, it was running so slow that once I let the key go and released the gas, it stalled. The RPM's did not go up as I stepped on the gas pedal. I tried this over and over during the course of a half hour. Once, while turning the key trying to start it, the door locks rapidly and repeatedly locked and unlocked. Suddenly, it just started normally. Electrical problem? I just cleaned the battery, which had some corrosion. It has tested 'good'. The truck starts perfectly 90% of the time and runs great, otherwise. It has never stalled while I am driving, only when starting it.
Any ideas? Thanks!!

As far as the door locks it is normal operation after the key is turned on and off a set number of times. This is how the remote door locks are programmed. As far as the hard start I would replace the IAC and run a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in a tank of gas.
