420a arp Head stud torque
I don't know if any of you guys have searched for the torque specs for these damn arp head studs, but the numbers are all over the place. One guys said he didn't use a three step process, just went from hand tight to 80 ft-lbs and he's went 10,000 miles without problems- i find that hard to believe.
So, what have you guys torqued yours down to? I have the arps head stud kit along with a cometic head gasket. By the way, i have the AEM piggy back (easy to tune and a great buy!) which means i can't go over 26 psi of boost without an upgraded on-board map sensor. So that will be the most i will ever run. I read somewhere that the amount of boost can determine how tight you should have the bolts. Imput? |

Re: 420a arp Head stud torque
I believe I torqued mine down to 75lbs and had trouble with the head spraying coolant and high boost. Retorqued them to 85lbs and haven't had trouble since. I dont remember what specs are but 85 should be plenty. I have heard of people running over 90 so I think you will be ok.

Re: 420a arp Head stud torque
O yea I forgot to add that. Use the torque sequence in the shop manual. I believe they do a 3 step process so follow that and just torque them to 85 or 90 for the final step. Don't use the torque specs for the stock head bolts
