Tamiya Monte Shell F40

This was a fine kit, with nice PE. I opened up the engine cover gills just cause I like the looks. I like the wedge shaped red stripe that appears to have the same amount of white above it for the length of the body.

I love it. I'm working on this kit right now. Did you paint the red or use the decals? I was afraid of ruining the decals so I just painted the red.

Do we get to see the engine?

Very nice. I remember someone reporting that this kit could be tricky to put together nicely - did you have any problems? Looks good anyway.

Looks great! I have spent a lot of time filing down and sanding the rear engine cover on mine to fit properly when the body goes together. Did you have the same issues? I notice when closed it doesn't sit quite flush on one side.

I also noticed that your engine cover is sitting well, I too built one & also had the problem of the engine cover not sitting correctly. Ive been told removing the "pins" that connect the body & chassis together relaxes the body & the engine cover sits correctly.
great work, looks awesome

Re: Tamiya Monte Shell F40

The red stripes are decals. The red dog leg at the air intake may be correct, but if I painted it I'd eliminate it because it doesn't look right. I gave up on getting the chassis to fit. The inner door panels bump into the side windows. I painted the chassis per the instructions, so even though it shows below the body it matches the body. I broke the lower rear engine cover cross bar and also snapped off one of the hinges while polishing the paint. I got disgusted, so to get the engine cover to fit, I used epoxy and postal rubber bands. While it was drying the right side raised up. The exhaust didn't line up perfectly, so the tips point down.
