Exclamation 01 Jimmy not taking gas! emissions or fuel system problem?

2001 Jimmy will not allow you to put gas into the tank, before any one asks becasuse this is the first suggestion the fill tube has been removed and is free of dents, kinks and blockages. Dealer and personal mechanic are completly dumbfounded! Want to start from scratch and remove all parts and replace with new, not happening. Has any one ever had this happen and if so any suggestions??? Truck is throwing a code for the EVAP Canister, it is not releasing fumes properly from tank even if truck is not running fumes keep building up. Fuel pump is also only putting out about 50lbs for pressure and should be about 60 to 66 per mechanic, truck runs fine and does not stall just will not let you put fuel in it. Where do you start without replacing both systems????? Thanks for anyone with any ideas.

You say the fill tube is fine, but how about the vent hose?

The roll-over valve, (if equipped) might be stuck. It's inside the nipple just inside the fuel tank. If you remove the rubber fuel filler hose, you can see/feel the valve.

Your tech is correct, fuel pressure must be 60psi to 66psi. 50psi will give you hard start or no start in cold weather. You might have two reasons to drop the tank now If it does turn out to be a faulty fuel pump, don't waste your time or money on anything other than AC Delco or Delphi.

Is this different on the '01 compared to a '97?

The roll-over valve (check-ball) on my '97 is in the filler tube, towards the bottom end (tank end) where the rubber hose attaches the tube to the tank.
This ball valve also prevents someone from siphoning gas from your tank.

Either way, I agree this is a probable cause. If the ball got stuck in the "up" position, gas won't enter the tank.

If you've got some type of flexible but stiff rod material (fiberglass?) that's non-metallic, push down until you feel the blockage, and then push a little harder.
