Theft light

I have a 96 cavalier and my theft system light came on and now my car won't start is there a way to bypass this or turn the light off

To bypass it, just solder a resistor (3-6 k ohms) between the yellow and black wires that go to the ignition cylinder. To relearn that resistor, try to start the engine, then release the key to on, wait 10 minutes (security lioght will go off after the countdown timer has reached zero), turn the key to off, repeat that process two more times for a total wait time or about 30 minutes. After the first time, you can just turn the key to on, you don't have to crank it every time.
