Malibu A/C Bypass Pulley?

I have a 2003 Malibu with the 3.1 and was looking at an a/c bypass pulley and I found one on multiple websites that fits the engine. Problem is I have no idea where to bolt it on at because it looks like it wouldn't go anywhere. Here is a picture of the pulley from one of many websites.

Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated. Note that it says, it bolts directly into the A/C compressor place. Well, I have looked at the bracket and where the bolts would go, and it just doesn't seem right because it looks like the pulley wouldn't stick out far enough for the belt to catch it.

Re: Malibu A/C Bypass Pulley?

Why not just buy a belt for a non a/c motor?

Re: Malibu A/C Bypass Pulley?

the a/c bypass pulley goes where the air compressor is.you unbolt the compressor and put the pulley in it's place

all of the 2003 malibu's came with air so there in no belt listed for w/o air so you will need that bypass pulley.

Already looked to see if you can use a smaller belt with no a/c compressor and it's not possible.

Re: Malibu A/C Bypass Pulley?

If your compressor is bad you can buy a new bearing for the compressor. As the compressor is bad you will loose the charge changing the bearing but you will be able to run the car.
A junkyard compressor with a good bearing will also be about as cheap as a bypass pulley. If the clutch is locked try unplugging the compressor.
Without instructions and the kit I've never observed one.

My pullers mostly screw in the front and a bolt pulls the pulley but I do have a puller like this.
