Clogged radiator, bad water pump, air in the system all are thing to be checked out.

Re: 1995 olds cutlass overheating will not run
Mine, same description, was diagnosed by a "simple" products of combustion test within the anti-freeze to be a bad head gasket. I had both banks' replaced by a reputable shop and the problem went away. It was explained that since the head and block are different material the different coeficient of expansions can create wear and tear on the gasket and the problem occurs frequently on any manufacturer's vehicle with a similar design. Mine occurred at 100,000 miles but I would guess its more a function of starts that mileage. I quoted "simple" because I never saw the testing fluid for sale or even advertised.

Use that test all the time, not advertised because it is usually done by a " pro" so the market is limited.
