removal procedure ac line

What is the procedure for removing the ac line on a 2000 GP GT? The high service line I guess its called. The return line that is on the drivers side and has the high service fitting on it. Just how difficult a task is it? Thanks in advance for the advice. Also what would happen if that same high service fitting wasnt there and the line ran straight through? Can I put the R-134 back in through the other service fitting up at the firewall?

Re: removal procedure ac line

The high side service fitting is used for pressure testing.

Never attempt to add refrigerant through the high side port, as this can cause the can to explode, causing seriouse injury including frostbite.

Replacing the high side line is not technically difficult, but if the fittings are corroded together (very common), it can be a frustrating endeavor. The line runs from the firewall, to the drivers side, under the air filter/PCM housing and to the condenser.

Unless it has all leaked out the first step is to properly recover the refrigerant before opening any line due to the high pressures and refrigerant being discharged. Do you plan on replacing the high port or what is the issue? If you have limited knowledge and experience on servicing auto A/C systems then you might consider taking it to a pro or someone that knows what they are doing. After repairs the system needs a vacuum pulled on it and then recharged via the low side service port preferably using the proper A/C manifold gauge set.

Yes, the issue is the high side service. Really I was just wanting to know was the best or easiest way to get the connection at the firewall off. The other end is already off. Thank you. Also, yes once line is replaced I will take it in to get filled and balanced.
