2002 Grand Prix SE Aftermarket Radio Install

Hi,

I just have a few pictures.

Timmy Gave me this CD player last year for christmas, and suprized me the other day with this awesome mount he found on the internet. What do you think? Looks pretty nice doesn't it?

I also have an ipod hook up in the glove compartment so I can lock my ipod up and controll it completly through the cd player.

Here is what was included in the kit...






Here is a few shots after the install. Timmy had to solder all those little bulbs together and somehow hooked them up so they turn on with my dash lights and also dim when I use the knob.



Here is another picture of it installed at night at more of a broad angle... (also see the HID headlights in the background? He also gave those to me for christmas last year)



Last but not least here is the finished product installed with the flash turned on so you can see it. It is perfectly flush mounted, and the frame of the mount is metel, so it will make it hard for anyone to steal mt cd player!!!

Yeah, her car always seems to get the nice things.....

She also needs tires, so next we would like to find a set of chrome stock wheels to go on there. And you can't forget the GT/GTP ground effects that will be going on here soon to help keep it from rusting.

BTW, yes, the last picture, that is a performance shift knob in a grand prix SE with a 3100. It works 100% and also shows up "performance shift" on the enhanced digital DIC. I am still working on better performance trans settings in the bin as well as trying to decrease the KR, 12-15 degrees at 45mph in OD. (If anyone has any ideas).

That radio mount is SWEET! Does it wire in so it dims with the instrument cluster lights? If so, I might just have to get my hands on one. I've got a really nice Kenwood deck, but all the mount kits I've found have it sticking out of the dash about 1-1/2" to 2" and look like garbage.

Yeah Rich, I tapped into the orange wire with the white stipe off the back of the deck (if I remember right). There were two, I think one was orange and the other was orange with a white stripe. I used my multimeter purposly to find which one dimmed with the dimmer switch.

They make all sorts of install kits at all different colors. "grand Prix", "grand prix GT", Grand Prix GTP Supercharged". Green, Blue, Red White, LED's....

I chose the regular incondescant bulbs just because I think the light spreads out more evenly.

Its completly flush mounted. Maybe Nat will go take another picture vieawed sideways.

Yeah, I could see from her pics that it was flush, and that is what makes it nice.
