Front End Shaking

2001 GTP 67K miles, all stock no mods.

Looking for advice on vehicle front end shaking while under acceleration. No extreme shaking when accelerating to speed however once reaching 60-80 mph vehicle shake's (feel vibration in gas peddle / steering wheel) lightly. When hitting accelerator to pass vehicle feels like it is almost jumping (really bad shake). I replaced the tires about a month ago however it does not seem to have corrected the issue. I don't want to waste a ton of money on repairs as it seems it could be the tie rods, cv joints, bad front hub (abs/trac light is on) and from what I read a possible motor or tranny mount. Any help is greatly appreciated to point me in the right direction. Original plugs and wires are still in. Recently replaced fuel filter and fuel pump (4 months ago).

Thanks Everyone.

Re: Front End Shaking

bad parts, tires, rims, bad mounts, bent 1/2 shafts.

lets not forget some dork tapping on an extra 1 ounce of wheel weight once a week just to make you go nuts.

Re: Front End Shaking

To test what might be causing your shake, jack up the car (on the sub-frame, not the control arm) and grab the wheel at multiple positions (12-6, 3-9, 10-2, etc...).

If it moves at all positions, the hubs are suspect.

If it only moves at 12-6, look for play in the ball joint(s).

If it only moves at 3-9, check the tie rods and rack and pinion.

Other things to look for are free play in the lower control arm bushings (especially the ones toward the front of the car), and the stabilizer bar for cracks near where the end links attach.

Re: Front End Shaking

Thanks for the advice guy's, I will see about getting under the car this weekend to see if anything is loose. I did replace all 4 tires today and had an alignment completed. The shaking is still present however has decreased a great bit, only bad when I get on the gas hard. I will keep posting till the issue is resolved. Thanks again.
