new steering column, new keys and no start

i have a 96 SSEI and i need to change the steering column. the problem is my keys are chipped. when i put in the new column will the new keys start the car or should i put my old ignition cylinder into the new column and will that start me car. at this point i dont know what to do. if someone could PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!! is there something i can do without taking it to the dealer.

Change the lock cylinder to the new column or the PassKey II won't allow it to run. I've been known to put the original lock cylinder with the key taped into it back up under the kick panel with it plugged into the harness and leave it there to make the PassKey system happy, and abort it in the column, as this is where most of the problems with it come from as the wiring to the chip reader in the cylinder will fatigue and break after so many key cycles.
