Change radiator hoses?

Our '02 Impala has 107,000 miles and i like to keep up on maintenance. Question is the radiator hoses. I know in the past, hoses did not last very long. Should i change them now just to be safe or should i just keep an eye on them?

Re: Change radiator hoses?

If they start swelling or feel mushy, change them. I put 160,000 miles on a '97 Tahoe and never had a hose problem. The radiator connections are the only leak points (other than the water pump) I've had.

I don't think they are as firm as new, but not overly mushy either. No swelling as far as i can see. Guess i will wait for now.

Re: Change radiator hoses?

I changed the radiator hoses on my '02 with around 104k miles - but only because I was replacing the intake gaskets. They came off looking fine and probably could've gone right back on. On my Taurus ('97 with nearly 172k), I'm pretty sure they're still original - but this car rarely goes out of town (now)...
