99 RODEO Front Speaker

Howdy once again ya'll - hope all's well!!!

I have a friend with a RODEO that's having a power problem. I've directed him here

So, I thought I'd come on by.

Rodeo is coming up on it's 5th anniversary, and still running great - a lot of thanks goes to this forum for that!!!

Now, I've got a front speaker that I assume is blown??? It has a rattle sound. I'm looking for a low cost solution/replacement, any ideas????

Thanks in advance, and glad to see ya'll

Re: 99 RODEO Front Speaker

I just replaced my rears with some Clarions (Century 2000 had them, and I am in Ohio for a little while). If you are hearing the flapping/buzzing, more then likely its blown, unless its rubbing something. Many times car speakers surrounds come unglued, or foam surrounds deteriorate. In any case, its time for a replacement.

Any of your major audio installers will have factory replacements, and if you insist on a "no name" or "cheap" replacement, they'll have it. There is no need for name brand or high end, unless you are going to replace all of the speakers / head unit, etc. A little more power handling would be nice, but the best thing to look for is a higher sensitivity (translating in higher volume with less power). 92 is low, 97 and up is good, 100 is great. These are dB ratings, which are calculated at 1watt/1meter, and its how a speaker is rated for sensitivity.

Good luck. If you decide that you can replace them yourself, but no one in your area has any clue on what to buy, you can always try Crutchfield (a little pricey, but they have a selection).

Re: 99 RODEO Front Speaker

all those ratings are border-line useless when dealing with a factory stereo. It just doesn't put out enough power to even matter in that case. If any rating should matter it would be the RMS wattage.
