2001 F-150 XLT Electronic 4 Speed Automatic Overdrive
Purchased new Current mileage 39000+ All recommended maintenance performed. I just came back from a test run and here is what happened. Truck stumbles when you accelerate, even slight acceleration. Idles ok. Runs ok on level road. If you floor the accelerator it will turn up 5000 rpm(I didn’t want to go any higher or faster). When using cruise control in a 45 mph zone and going up an overpass the truck will stumble and the transmission will downshift. I also went to AutoZone and had them check for codes even thou the CEL had not come on. NO CODES. This condition started 4 days ago. |

Re: Truck stumbles on acceleration
tps sometimes show no codes. but it could be egr valve thats not causing long enough problem to code. you may code soon but the longer you go with no codes the more it looks like t position sensor. even a small vac leak can cause bog at a certain rpm. just not getting the right fuel mix but all sensor good = no codes ,check all your vac hoses. good luck

Re: Truck stumbles on acceleration
5.4 or 4.6 check plug wires if you have them. that will do it too.
