Toyota chaser JZX100 Vertex

In addition to this one: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=959484 i plan to make this vertex jzx100 chaser. I'm going to make some kind of diorama with this tourers... plan to finish till 5th september, for the modelling event. maybe sooner... the body was painted with kansai urethan paints, and covered with the same clear. Body is polished, but not till the end... the hand is on fire... very hard clear...

Re: Toyota chaser JZX100 Vertex

The best is the enemy of the good.... that's exactly the same case...
while polishing the body with machine i damaged the paint on the rear bumper with something hard fell under the polishing buff.... (sand, sugar or salt..... who knows), after two days of getting nowhere i've decided to repaint locally the part.... we'll see what will happen...
Unfortunately i don't have time to drop the body into the braking fluid, and fully repaint it...

p.s. after 15 minutes the result is good!

Re: Toyota chaser JZX100 Vertex

good luck on it, sometimes you can repaint what chipped. What i would do is sand down the area that needs to be repainted first and then paint it. But don't sand down the primer to the plastic. Good luck.

Re: Toyota chaser JZX100 Vertex

well, i've sand the area just to remove the results of my repairs... then painted it and cover with clear.... now it's almost ok, just have to polish the border....

I have enough drift damage on my 1:1 , so this one should be shiny and showy
I thought about making a sticker "no more f**** drift" , but rejected it...

Good work so far!

One trick I've learned for paint touchups involves the masking. Don't simply lay the tape down (thus giving the paint a hard edge to build on), but if you can, curl it up so that the paint can feather underneath the tape slightly and blend itself it. It's kind of hard to explain without pictures.

I undersand what you mean. Does it make any sense when using airbrush? cause i've never had problems with shape or masking tape being removed with paint. or maybe i've got it wrong.
like this?

Re: Toyota chaser JZX100 Vertex

Yes, that's it. Then all you do is paint the area as you normally would. I first saw it used on a paint repair on a 1:1, using a standard spray gun, so it should work with cans and airbrushes.
