Exclamation A/C problem

my ac messed up it works fine when im driving but at stops n lights n turns off n feels as if the car wants to turn off then it turn on n off n lik a sec n keeps doing the same over n over until i start to give it some gas n starts working fine whats up?????!!!!!! 05 GP 3.8L
