Gas mileage for a 73 with 350 4BBL?

I know these engines in the El Camino's aren't made for economy, but can anyone give an idea of what it might be under normal driving conditions, (No lead footing!)? What do you all get and what tips can I use/install to get better mileage? Thanks.

I have a 82 el camino with a 350 with a 4bbl and I have my engine set for high pro. and I get about 9 mgh but to get good economy set the idle mixture and ride mixture to lean but you can put a 2bbl carb on there..that would help ha

A nicely tuned 305/350 is capable of getting up in the 18-20 mpg range if kept up properly. True dual exhaust helps too. IMHO, a good spreadbore carb in the 600-650 cfm range will get better mpg and overall performance than the 2 bbl. (I had stock manifolds rather than headers to keep the vibration down). Good luck.
