u bend delete..good mod?
are there any performance gains by just deleting the u bend?

I guess that you are talking exhaust
Just remember that the bigger the better, and the less bends the better. But you have to remember the 2nd rule……. It gets loud |

In a word...no.
The u-bend is an exhaust restriction, but you will not notice a difference in a stock car. If the pipe is rusted or you're replacing a cat anyway, then go ahead and do the u-bend delete, as it will not have any negative effects either.

There is documented proof via dyno tests a u-bend delete may give you up to a 5 hp increase with the L67 SII 3800 engine but you will not feel it in the seat of your pants.
