Re: New(?) F1 in the US...

Fairly certain that the 'DTM 76' plate is one of the manufacturer plates typically seen on concept BMWs here in the USA. Also, BMW's headquarters in Woodcliff is about two miles away from MBZ's in Montvale.

I wonder if this could be #047 making a visit to the USA?

Re: New(?) F1 in the US...

Certainly not the best camera used on those, but does it look like those wheels have been polished to anyone else?

EDIT: Saw the pics on a diff monitor - they no longer look polished to me, just over-exposed.

Also, since one of the US F1 service centers is also located there, I wonder if they would use one of those plates on a customer's F1? Especially one that is new in the country (as Chris suggests) and perhaps not yet registered by its owner.

I heard that #065 was headed our way after the auction in the London last year. That could be a possibility too.

Bah. Too many silver F1's! It could be any car. I'm guessing we'll find out soon though. These things have a habit of reappearing.

Maybe its 047 being brought over for Monterey?

There's probably multiple locations but I know that at least two BMW and Mercedes building complexes are within feet of each other in Montvale. Their parking lots might even meet one another. I was in a wedding in the area and stayed in a hotel directly across from a BMW corporate office complex. No McLarens though and no sign of a service center.

Re: New(?) F1 in the US...

Well I can now confirm my "fairly certain" on the plate. DTM 76 is definitely one of the combinations assigned to BMW by the State of New Jersey. Here's one example on an Alpina B7 which are built by BMW.

This doesn't help with id on the car at all, but does confirm it was not affiliated with Mercedes.

What about this one? The same car with a new plate? (too many silver cars)

Re: New(?) F1 in the US...

It does look like it might have chrome/polished wheels in that pic too...

EDIT: Actually, i think that might be 068. Erik might know more....

You're correct - that is #068.

I don't believe #068 was the one seen in NJ though.

Re: New(?) F1 in the US...

Okay - here's another one...

Found on Flickr - taken near San Francisco on August 5th 2009. The California plate is not one I have seen before.

I guess it could be #062 which was formerly Larry Ellison's, but that car hasn't been seen for a few years. It was reported to have remained in the Bay area, so that's my only guess for now.

Re: New(?) F1 in the US...

It was sold to another venture capitalist who kept it in Woodside. I forget his name but I can dig it up if anyone's curious.

Fairly sure this is the Ellison car. But you never know.

Joseph Lacob was the last name I had associated with the car.
