Unhappy 2003 deville

I HAVE JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2003 DEVILLE, AND AM HAVING SOME PROBLEMS. SPECIFICALLY THE "SES" LIGHT IS ON, HAD IT SCANNED AND GOT CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CODE AND CYLINDER 6 MISFIRE CODE.

THIS CAR HAS 2 CKP SENSORS, AN UPPER AND LOWER. DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE IS BAD, I ALSO HAD A PROBLEM OTHER DAY WITH THE CAR STALLING IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING IT, GOT A "MAP" {MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE} SENSOR, I REPLACED THE MAP SENSOR AND IT WORKED UNTIL I RE-INSTALLED BRACKET BOLTS, THEN IT WENT BACK TO STALLING. COULD MAP SENSOR BE DEFECTIVE, OR COULD SOMETHING ELSE BE CAUSING THIS PROBLEM.

I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP

Re: 2003 deville

A faulty crankshaft position sensor is a common problem with this car. The error code does not distinguish between the upper and the lower sensor so I recommend you replace them both. Put the front end of the vehicle on jack stands and remove the oil filter bracket. Then you should have decent access to both sensors.
A faulty crankshaft position sensor will cause the engine to stop running
intermittently.
