2006 Pontiac Solstice VS. 2006 Mazda Miata MX-5

I only care about the 3 things in a car:
1) Look: Both of them look good although I think Solstice look better.
2) Highway MPG: These 2 have fairly the same MPG
3) $$$ Cost: They cost the same but I am not sure which one is more expensive to fix... A Pontiac or a Mazda?
I don't care about anything other than these 3 factors. Based on this, which one you think will be a better choice for me ( considering the cost and MPG)?

Thanks.

Question Re: 2006 Pontiac Solstice VS. 2006 Mazda Miata MX-5

I think repair costs would be relatively equal ! So it comes down to personal choice ! You said you preferred the Solstice styling over the Mazda's so will that be the deciding factor ? I also prefer the Solstice styling but both are great looking vehicles ! Some consider the Miata a " chick " car but , personally , I would drive it and not worry about that ! What's it gonna be ?

The only thing that worries me about the Pontiac is that I heard Pontiac is going to close in 2010 and I would assume that getting parts for it would be extremely hard. GM is not that stable either. Should I be worried about that?

Thanks.

Re: 2006 Pontiac Solstice VS. 2006 Mazda Miata MX-5

I personally like the Saturn sky looks over the Solstice...but other than looks they are the same. I'm guessing your not looking at the GXP either?
If your looking at new I would chose the MX-5...but since you have it narrowed down to two you should just test drive them.

If it were my money I would look for a slightly used 350z or S2000 with around 10,000 miles for the same price...a friend of mine just purchased a convertable z for cheap and its just as good as new and 150% better than a solstice

The Saturn Sky is a lot more expensive than the Pontiac Solstice and I don't want to pay more than 15k for a car. Because of that, I would have to get a used one.
I don't have it narrowed down to two and I am open to suggestions but I haven't found anything else. I love s2000 but the problem is that I just can't fit in it! Also I don't like the way 350z looks. Solstice looks like a spaceship compared to 350z. I also really liked the Mazda RX-8 but it has a terribly low MPG.

Overall, Do you think I should get a Solstice even though Pontiac is closing down?

I would chose the Miata over the Solstice just because Pontiac is closing. But I would test drive both cars first because you might find that you like the way one cars drives 10x mor than the other

Your assumption is wrong, there will still be parts available long after you going out to pasture.
GM's problem's don't tie in with having parts available.

I cannot tell you which vehicle suits your lifestyle better than mine, only that being worried about getting GM parts down the road would not be a factor in my decision making.

PS... It's not a rumour about Pontiac " it's a fact "
