Rearend rattle

I purchased an 01 with 56,000 miles and i have had it about 6 months now and it has developed a rattle like something is loose but i can't find anything wrong. it doesn't seem to effect the ride but it's just really annoying. Is this something that is common?

Thanks

Re: Rearend rattle

check the spare tire. Sometimes stuff gets kicked up and will sit in the rim

Re: Rearend rattle

Another thing that I have had rattle is the wheel covers (hub caps), the factory ones have plastic clips....which break....
Also stones inside will do that.

If the shock absorbers have been changed, the big bolts ( 1 at top, 1 at bottom) on the shock absorber may need re-tightening.

Does it have a trailer hitch?, the receiver (part with the ball) can rattle inside the hitch frame.
I bought a anti-rattle clip to quiet mine.....and it works

These (and the spare tire) are some easy things to check first.

Otherwise......a look around from underneath is in order.

Re: Rearend rattle

its is coming from the driver side close to the wheel I'll check the shock bolts this weekend but it is not the spare, or the hitch and it has alloy wheels and it makes the noise with or without the center caps
