Where is hitch wiring harness in 2001 Cargo Van?

WHERE IS the supposed hitch wiring located in the 2001 Astro Cargo Van?

I have read that it is in the jack compartment.

Nope.

I looked under the back of the vehicle.

Nope.

I looked in the rear tail lights.

Nope.

Someone else wrote that they found it in the passengers side door column.

I'd like to know how they got to that, or found that without sawing the column in half.....LOL

...but anyway.....does ANYBODY know where the hitch harness is?

If the vehicle has the trailer tow option, the pigtail harness is behind the rear bumper. Should be in plain sight. Not all vehicles came with the option though, so it might not have the harness. Left rear corner in the interior is where you'll find the vehicle harness to splice trailer wires to. Make sure you solder them, and use heat shrink tubing. Don't use butt connectors.

Doesn't have the pigtail behind the bumper.

The wiring for the tail lights is behind a vertical plastic panel on the inside of each side of the dutch doors frame, but neither appears at casual glance to contain both runs. I'll have to check this more thoroughly.

Thanks!

Re: Where is hitch wiring harness in 2001 Cargo Van?

The main wiring harness runs along the driver side roof line from front to rear of the vehicle. Tail lights, stop/turn lights, and back up lights, for both sides, and the fuel pump, along a few others, are all in that harness. The wires for the passenger side split off the main harness at the left corner and run across the roof line to the passenger side, then down to the lights. You can tap into all of the rear lights at the upper left corner.
