exhaust sound question

i have a 2000 silverado with a 5.3L in it and it has true dual 3in just cats, what i want is try to make it sound deeper but not quite it down to much, like its defiantly loud and i like it but its dosnt have that low rpm rumble that i want sounds more like a nascar or somethin lol, some one told me if i was to get the flowmaster 1 chamber race mufflers for it and get tips it would make it a lot more deeper with out quiteing it down too much, what i want to know is this statement true? ive had regular flowmaster 40 series on this truck and it almost went back to sounding stock and didnt have any rumble and was stock sounding when i reved, so im really against putting any mufflers on this truck but the 1 chambers dont look like they would quite it down much, thanks guys
